All,
It's been a long time since we've done any meaningful communications. Now
the domain name is due again & I want to ask the group if we should
continue having a web site name (has anyone ever looked at it?)
I can keep the list, without the name. That's free. Name is about $15 for
a year (not much, but why bother unless we're going to use it)
Moreover this is merely a good time to prod everyone into considering a
more productive means of moving forward.
I went to the last Berkeley Commission meeting. Some interesting subjects
were presented. I did see a couple of other Berkeley Boat Owners
Assoc (BBOA) members show up eventually.
However, we're not leveraging the voice of all our members. We really
should make plans to have an organized representation at each monthly
meeting.
Then we can comment as a group on things like dock renovations,
night time security guard, and privitizing the marina.
A simple solution I've considered is organizing a calendar (I can add one
to the website easily), wherein we have 2 different BBOA members
designated & confirmed to show up at a given meeting.
Those members can both report back to us, and to the commission on our
perspective on things discussed.
We now have about 40 members, that means that no person would need to
got to more than once per year (not a great sacrifice given we have no
dues, overhead (other than what I'm supporting for the website), etc.
A simple business card campaign could easily increase our numbers by
double I suspect.
Thoughts? Can we organize to be more productive than simply reducing slip
fee increases a bit?
Yours,
Zach
