[Bboa-members] Berkeley BOA . Should we continue the list?

Thank you for you complement..
Lori and I have left the Berkeley Marina for Marina Village in Alameda and
there were several reasons for our move.
Frankly the greatest incentive was the weather, but I have to admit that the
new single berth downwind slip is $12 per month more than we were paying in
Berkeley. We also have to pay metered electricity, which is included monthly
in your bill.
Amenities that are available at the berths are Cable TV, Cable Internet and
Telephone. Every dock has bathrooms with laundry machines and there is a
free pump out station.
The landscaping down here is absolutely beautiful, there is no graffiti and
the pathways are free of homeless.
There is a strip mall across the street from the Marina with an Albertson's
Grocery store and fast food restaurants. West Marine and Svenson's are both
within one mile and of course Jack London Square is a raft trip away.
When we moved to the Berkeley Marina our auto insurance went up over $600
per year because the waterfront's zip code is in a bad area. Moving to
Alameda places us back in a better zip code and our car insurance has gone
down over $600 per year.
Finally, we are no longer required to pay a slip tax at $120 per year or $15
per month Wifi CoOp fees.
As you can see we are saving $756 per year in car insurance, tax and
Internet costs, which should more than cover the electricity and Cable
Internet in Alameda and probably save us money overall.
We are not severing our ties with the Berkeley Marina... We will remain
members of the Berkeley Yacht Club and next year Tom has been asked to serve
as Rear Commodore. Tom will continue working for the City of Berkeley and
Lori will continue working at Berkeley Marine Center as well as operating
Camelot Marine (Canvas Repair).
We wish you all Fair Winds and Following Seas.

Looks like we lost the O-dock captain to Alameda this weekend. Tom was a
driving force and voice for us all but who can blame him. Everywhere, but
here, actually attempts to give their berthers value for their dollars.
Here, we just get smug indifference and tacit effort, at best.
Tom may just be part of a trend to not take the abuse anymore.
Right behind you, brother!

Zach, I believe the central problem is that we haven't met to consider the
most important issues and determine a Coalition position.
Everyone seems to be freewheeling. Without at least a quarterly meeting, an
evaluation of issues and positions structure, I don't think we will make
much progress. I'd be happy to pay for the website, if you believe it is
worthwhile to keep it going. Janet I-6, 204-9871.
